Single Origin Light Roast
Origin: DR Congo (organically grown)
Tasting Notes: Dark Chocolate, Caramel, Raspberry
Elevation: 1200 -1400m
This organically grown roast originates from North Kivu, which is located at the borders of Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi. Here the high altitude and rich, volcanic soil, combined with the right amount of rain, create the perfect conditions to grow such a flavorful, organically grown bean. These coffee beans are one of the very few sources of cash these producers can grow. Often faced with adversities like armed incursions and corruption, the farmers depend on the income. This makes them a valuable resource to the small community.
The coffee farm also resides next to Virunga National Park. It is the oldest national park in Africa and is home to some of the most endangered animals in the world. Lowland gorillas, elephants, chimpanzees, leopards, lions, antelope, and the most diverse collection of birds in the world all depend on the park for protection. The park is investing in smallholder farmers nearby in an effort to give them resources and reduce the amount of wood used. This creates a peaceful and beneficial coexistence for both the coffee farmers and the park.

Storing Instructions
Storing Instructions
Our coffee is packaged in high barrier layered bags designed to eliminate moisture and sunlight. The bags also contain one way valves which allow the beans to degass on their own. This combination allows the beans to stay fresh for weeks on the counter or in a cabinet. We do not recommend refrigerating or freezing the beans.
Brewing Styles
The flavor notes of this organically grown single origin bean are enhanced when brewed as a drip, a pour-over, or a french press.
